Market Outlook

Key benchmark indices settled almost flat on Thursday in lacklustre trade. Though, IT shares fell across the board on a firmer rupee.. The Nifty 50 lost 6.15 points and settled the day at 10380.45. Realty sector were the major gainer and IT sector were the major loser of the day.

On the economic front, manufacturing sector growth in India gathered momentum in October as firms responded to stronger order inflows by scaling up production, input purchasing and employment.

Standard Chartered PLC reported a 35% year-on-year jump in net profit for the third quarter and a 33% hike for the first nine months of 2018. European shares rose to fresh eight-day highs on Thursday as strong results from heavyweights, UK phone group BT and Dutch bank ING, helped offset a disappointing update from Credit Suisse and ASM International brought some cheer to chipmakers.

Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Pharmaceutical Industry sectors led shares lower.The Nikkei 225 fell 1.02%.China stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Technology and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares higher.The Shanghai Composite rose 0.13%, while the SZSE Component index gained 1.14%.   Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Machinery and Cement sectors led shares higher.The Taiwan Weighted rose 0.43%
